This species is an epiphytic plant that grows in rainforests on tree trunks, tree hollows, and sandy soils. This species is one of the most widely cultivated Tillandsia, similar to the well-known Tillandsia cyanea, but larger and more cold tolerant.

We are currently growing in plastic pots with bark, but these plants can also be tied onto slabs of bark, or just hung in the air without any potting media if your humidity is good and you water often. Very fun and ornamental plant!
