Cycnoches cooperi is a beautiful species native to northern Peru and Brazil. These plants can produce separate male or female flowers depending on light levels. Lower light produces the beautiful and more abundant male flowers as in the photos shown. Female flowers produced in high light will have shorter spikes with fewer, larger flowers.
These plants like to grow in intermediate to warm temperatures and produce cascading flower spikes with very fragrant flowers. We offer first-time blooming plants, which will grow even taller pseudobulbs and produce higher flower counts as they mature.
Please note: These plants will lose their leaves just before, while, or after flowering as they go dormant for a short period after blooming. The foliage will turn yellow and fall off. If you order one in spike, you may receive one with foliage starting to turn yellow. This is normal.
Since these are seasonal growers, it is best to familiarize yourself with the culture tips HERE.
Current plants are shedding foliage and going into the dormant stage until new growths emerge later in the winter.
