This is a cross between aggregatum and aggregatum var. jenkinsii. Some consider them two separate species and call this hybrid Den. Ueang Pheung. However, that is not an official RHS registered hybrid name, so we are sticking with aggregatum for this product listing.
Known as "Jenkins's Dendrobium", this species is widely distributed in India and south-east Asia and can tolerate a wide range of temperatures. This spring-bloomer produces an abundant flurry of 1" wide, bright yellow and orange fragrant flowers. Grow in medium to high light for the best growth and flowering. This orchid experiences a rainy season and a dry season in its native habitat. Treat this species accordingly by watering abundantly in spring and summer during active growth, and giving it a dry season from early winter to early spring by withholding fertilizer and using minimal water.
Before flowering, which typically occurs in spring, you can start to apply high-phosphorous bloom-boosting fertilizer to encourage spiking. We have been able to get lots of spikes without this technique as well. This plant also does very well mounted on slabs as it is an epiphyte in nature and the slab culture prevents over-watering during the dry rest season.
This is an opportunity to purchase some very established large plants in 6" bulb pans with multiple growths!
The last two photos are of the individual listing plant that is available as of 5/25/2024.
