Native to India, this is one of the best examples of this species around. Named for Walter Rothschild of Tring Park, England, 'Red Chimney' is perhaps the best there is with its First Class Certificate award from the AOS. The large, deep red umbells emerge in late October to November and produce stunning arrays of flowers. If you lean in close, you may detect the slight yet non-offensive scent of fish emitted when in bloom. The flowers have a rocking lip that makes for an entertaining sight whenever the plant is moved or a breeze passes by. This is a plant we have owned for many years, and it is the original plant that we have grown and divided.
