Description
This fantastic species is native to Sumatra, where it grows epiphytically on trees in shaded, moist areas of lowland tropical forests. As if the deep violet flowers were not impressive enough, this species is delightfully fragrant! Begins blooming in the spring and continues to produce successive flowers through to the fall season, with 2 to 3 flowers open at any one time per spike. Do not cut the flower spikes so long as they are green, as they will go dormant for the winter and resume blooming the following spring season.
