A cross we acquired from the Orchid Inn when Sam Tsui retired. We should see the first plants flower in the summer of 2024. Typically 1/2 album crosses will mostly look like the non-album parent, but in some cases, there is a mix of both colors. The reason for making a 1/2 albino cross is for future generations of hopefully faster-growing albinos with larger flowers, as you can use this generation to cross back onto albino or with its siblings, to create a percentage of new albinos again from recessive genes.
This species is found in Southwestern Guangxi and Southeastern Yunnan provinces of China and northern Vietnam. It is tolerant of cool to warm temperatures, and flowers during the warmer summer months. It is a compact plant, and relatively easy to grow. The colors are lovely!
