The Complex Paphiopedilum hybrids began in England, Scotland, and Europe, where many generations were bred from larger, long-lasting species. As time passed, the complexity became more developed with new species added to improve qualities such as color, markings, size, shape, and substance. Now, these types are hybridized worldwide, especially in the USA, Japan & Taiwan.
The flowers are long-lasting, flower for 2-3 months, and can be from anywhere around 4.5" to 6" across in size with a waxy substance. Water about every 4-5 days and grow in low to medium light. The bloom season for complex Paphs is late fall to early winter.
Green complexes often have yellow mixed into the color, and can have white in the dorsal and ventral sepals as well. The color often starts out as green but over time the color can shift to a more yellow or golden hue.
Our current batch 11/13 is made up of premium-sized plants that will begin to open within 1-2 weeks.
