Description
We offer selfings of an exceptionally large-flowered tetraploid clone of Ansellia africana called 'Rosminah'. It is also known as the 'leopard orchid.' This species native to hot dry grasslands, is often found growing in a number of trees and shrubs and on occasion, found growing on rock outcrops with darker and larger than usual flowers. There will be several award-quality plants from this cross. Grow in medium to high light as for Cattleyas and water when dry. Keep slightly moister at the roots when in spike or flower and through the summer growing season. In winter, keep somewhat drier between watering and cut back on fertilizer. These are more robust then the standard 2N africana. The plants we offer are beautiful, large flowering-sized plants, bred and raised in our nursery for over a decade now. The beautiful yellow flowers with chocolate brown markings last for 2-3 months and have a nice fragrance.
