Description
Zygopetalums are intermediate to cool growing plants that like moisture at the roots at all times. They like bright diffused light and regular household temperatures. They do need to get below 65 degrees Fahrenheit at night in order to produce flower spikes. Ideal temps in winter are anywhere between 55 and 64 at night and 68 to 78 during the day time. The 2-3 inch flowers last for 2-3 months and are very fragrant, smelling of hyacinth. The flowering is typically once per year but we have seen them flower every 6-9 months if the conditions are right.
