Description
Cattleya dowiana (Native to Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia) is difficult to find these days. Theseare some excellent seedlings that will produce good flowers for the type. Grow in somewhat shadier conditions and don't forget that in winter they need to be drier at the roots. These plants grow their new roots in the fall after the new growth has developed. In spring return to normal watering and fertilizing. In fall curtail the fertilizer and start cutting back on water. These have some of the most beautiful flowers of any Cattleya species and it features prominently in the back ground of many modern day and old time hybrids. The flowers last about 2-3 weeks on average.
