Message from Jason Fischer about this class:
Many orchids you grow in pots, are actually epiphytes. This means they grow on the trees in the wild. For this class, we will simulate nature by mounting orchids onto cork slabs! I will explain the process, different mounting techniques, and how to successfully grow your orchids on a slab.
I will be demonstrating how to mount various types of orchids on slabs so you can better understand the process based on different plant growth habits. While being a workshop, it will also be an informative webinar on the mounting culture itself.
In order to follow along with the workshop class, you will need to purchase a workshop plant kit separately (link below) otherwise you can watch without a kit if you want to watch just for educational purposes.
Our mounting kits will provide the cork and all mounting accessories for the project which include types of moss, fishing line and hanging hardware. However, I will also show techniques using thin gauge wire which I will use a drill to make holes in the cork. If you have a drill and small drill bits, along with some thin gauge wire (long twist tie can work as well), you could also follow along to try this other technique. Remember, you can always go back to the recorded video for reference which will be sent following the class.
